Teatro KadaKen presents: Manuel Piar, The Final Battle
The man who dreamed, fought, and triumphed!
An emotional theatrical production about the final days of General Manuel Piar, the Curaçao-born freedom fighter who played a crucial role in the independence of Gran Colombia, which included Venezuela.
The play takes the audience back to 1817, in Guayana, Angostura State—today known as Ciudad Bolívar—on the Venezuelan Orinoco River. It presents the dramatic moments surrounding Piar’s arrest, his military trial, and the tense discussions between Simón Bolívar and Admiral Luis Brion, who unsuccessfully tried to prevent the prosecution of his compatriot. Intense scenes also feature the appearances of Piar’s mother, Maria Isabel, and his father, Fernando. The people, portrayed by actors in dual roles, express their outrage. Yet, Piar chooses to take the final step.
