The program will illustrate the extensive variety of classical music for several combinations of instruments in a broad sphere. Violinist Anna Rabinova plays the emotionally rich 'Chaconne' from partita #2 by J.S. Bach, described by Yehudi Menuhin as "the greatest structure for solo violin that exists". From there, Arman Würz (oboe) and Ilja Huang (piano) proceed with 3 oboe arias by Telemann. You will enjoy the sparkling and rhythmic pulse of the arias, as well as the variety of moods audible in the Romanza #1 by Robert Schumann. They have a fun surprise for you too.
For the rest of the program, Anna Rabinova and the Curaçao String Ensemble of Arjen de Graaf will be joined by Ilja Huang and the percussion section of José Reyes. They will play several compelling arrangements of famous orchestral music, and finish with absolute fireworks.
A shortened program will be presented in a 'Coffee Concert' the next morning, on 17 December at 11:00 am. The string ensemble program will be the same. Please note that Anna Rabinova will not play in the 17 December concert. If you wish to buy tickets for the 17 December concert instead, please click here.
The concert is organized by the Curacao Art Circle in cooperation with the Foundation Stichting St Thomas College.
